Service Description

Paws Ahead is the perfect follow on course from Puppy Paws and Novice Paws - Teens. Adolescent dogs have notoriously short attention spans so all activities are carried out using games and toy play to enhance the bond you have with your best friend. The course is aimed at helping your adolescent puppy learn essential life skills including impulse control and calmness around other dogs. Training takes place outside where you and your puppy will face and overcome the real-life challenges faced in public spaces. Exercises covered include: Lets go - for emergency situations. This way. Recall using the enviroment to distract your puppy and play hide and seek. Handling - getting puppy used to having collar handled in emergency situations, Puppy in the middle - Focus game. Refreshing on polite greetings - No jumping, Sitting by your side - crossing road/joggers passing. Calming management - Adolescent puppies can be over aroused quickly, Safe place position. Hand touch. Sit - Wait - whilst you pick something up from the floor (poop) Leave objects on floor - moving objects (ball) Socialisation in a controlled safe enviroment, Settle around other dogs. Ready steady go game - impulse control. Introduction of scent work. Group walk. Class groups are small and all dogs must be friendly towards people and other dogs. Once booked, you will receive a welcome e-mail which will detail everything you need to know and bring with you. Please ensure you read this prior to attending your first class. Due to the participant dogs being adult and having little or no training, it is advised that only two adults per dog attend class. Children attending class must be impeccably behaved and stay with their responsible adult at all times. At the end of the course, you will receive an official Ulti-mutt paws certificate and rosette. Please be aware that classes are kept to a maximum of six dogs per group, are conducted and outdoors so please come prepared for the weather. Please read our terms and conditions carefully. Once booked, we are unable to provide a refund unless there is another participant to take your place.
